Last month, we sent out props to the folks at Mixa, who brought tangible back to digital mixtapes. Today, we go even further down the line and give a shout out to the purists of the mixtape world from the International Mixtape Project.
"The International Mixtape Project is a growing community of music lovers who exchange homemade compilation tapes and CDs with likeminded folks around the globe. Every month, each active IMP member is assigned the name and address of another member somewhere else in the world. The rest is simple: Send an awesome mix...Receive an awesome mix!"
I do worry about what might show up in my mailbox, but with a $10 bi-annual fee, I'm sure someone is screening the underwear and dead rodents out of the packages.
So, if you're ever looking for the real deal, drop by the International Mixtape Project and give them a whirl. Kudos for keeping the mixtape alive!
